Emeritus Professor John Carlin

Since completing a PhD in Statistics at Harvard University, John has been engaged as a collaborator in a wide range of medical and public health research, including clinical trials and large-scale epidemiological studies.
His biostatistical interests include improving statistical practice and teaching to enhance scientific understanding and reproducibility, methods for dealing with missing data using multiple imputation, and modern approaches to causal inference in observational studies and randomised trials.
In 2026, his contribution to the field was recognised by the University of Melbourne with his appointment as Emeritus Professor.
