Stroke is one of the three most common causes of death around the world and the sixth most common cause of disability worldwide. In this presentation we reflect on many facets of statistical and OR modelling for decision support in stroke care.

These include, but are not limited to, the areas as diverse as appropriate estimation of treatment effect in Phase III acute stroke trials, simulation modelling of acute stroke thrombolysis care processes, and multi-attribute evaluation of stroke imaging software platforms.

We conclude by proposing an agenda for how statistical and OR modelling could better contribute to the effort of designing and operating effective stroke care systems.
