Katherine Lee and Kelsey Grantham Investigator Grant success
Congratulations to Katherine and Kelsey who have been awarded NHMRC Investigator Grants.
Prof Katherine Lee was awarded a NHMCR Investigator Grant, Level 2 to support her ongoing work in Adaptive Platform Trials (APTs). Over the next 5 years, Katherine will continue to develop and expand her biostatistical team to address important methodological gaps in developing, validating and analysing ordinal outcomes and handling of missing data in APTs, and will provide statistical input for the development and high-level statistical oversight for a range of APTs addressing key clinical and public health questions. Not only will this work provide solutions to critical methodological issues in APT, and new knowledge on intervention effectiveness, but it will also provide a significant and urgent expansion of Australia’s statistical capacity to support the development and analysis of APTs.
Dr Kelsey Grantham was awarded a NHMRC Investigator Grant for her project "Statistical methods and guidance to avoid pitfalls in cluster randomised trials". The 5 year Emerging Leadership 1 grant will support her program of methodological research on novel, streamlined variants of stepped wedge cluster randomised trial designs. Researchers implementing these designs face numerous pitfalls which can lead to underpowered trials and invalid conclusions. Building on her world-leading expertise in statistical theory and methods for cluster randomised trials including these streamlined designs, Kelsey will explore potential issues and their solutions to deliver practical guidance on appropriate designs and methods for different trial settings. This work will ultimately ensure that new health-improving interventions stand the best chance of being identified.
