Paper awarded the 2015 Distinguished Article in Health Communication from the National Communication Association, US.

An article published in the American Journal of Public Health on "The impact of tobacco control policies and mass media campaigns on monthly adult smoking prevalence" which was co-authored by ViCBiostat Chief Investigator Associate Professor Julie Simpson with collaborators from The Cancer Council of Victoria has been awarded the 2015 Distinguished Article in Health Communication from the National Communication Association in the United States.

To mark the 20th anniversary of The BMJ’s website, the journal asked 20 readers, authors, friends, and former colleagues to name an outstanding article published since the mid-1990s.

The Victorian Centre for Biostatistics (ViCBiostat) has the core aim of building the discipline of biostatistics in Victoria and Australia, primarily by fostering the careers of future biostatistical leaders. We have a diverse program of methodological and collaborative research as well as hosting regular seminars and training activities in biostatistics. Our focus is on methodological research and high-level training of biostatistical researchers but we emphasise collaboration and translation with the ultimate aim of improving the population’s health through high-quality research.
